JUDr. Josef Mares Primary School, Znojmo

The JUDr. Josef Mares Primary School, Znojmo, is a modern and progressive school which puts emphasis on pupils’ talents and giftedness. The “Programme for Talent Development” is applied in the everyday process of teaching. This project is based on long-term experience with teaching practice, and is not aimed at the selection of gifted children and their separation into special classes and groups, as the latest research has shown some drawbacks of this approach. Quite the opposite, the school makes every effort to provide a programme for talent development which would be available to anyone, building upon the assumption that every child is talented at something; these talents, which can be latent in many cases, need to be identified and developed systematically. The school creates material, personal, and organizational conditions for the optimal stimulation and development of talents and giftedness.
